"Following up the release of the emulsified “Dulcet” single, Universe of Sounds dives beneath yet another layer of mind-scintillating music with the release of the dual sided “Astrophilia”.

With razor-sharp focus on the interplay of melody, harmony, and tonality, the two companion tracks feel like parallel pathways through the same journey; shuffled drum lines and mothballed foley slices roll beneath supple sine chords and ambient textural movement, with each composition building on minor tension and resounding cadence.

It’s a warm, stereophonic view into the ongoing machinations within the Universe of Sounds catalog, and betrays a potent understanding of the intersection between musicianship and a full spectrum sonic palette. " - The Rust Music

EP review: bassfeedsthesoul.com/1-new-music-news/universe-of-sounds-astrophilia

"Astrophilia, a truly fitting title for the breathtaking new EP by Universe of Sounds. The two track EP innocently nestles the listener into a cozy space ship and sends them drifting through the cosmos. Tropically influenced percussion gives structure the otherwise endless space created by UoS and moves us forward among the stars. As “Bear Gulch” grows with complexity the track morphs into a nimbic blend of colors; rolling blues and pinks balance the thoughtful harmonies in the star studded atmosphere we travel through. An ambient lo-fi style beginning, quickly supernovas into a nebulous array of musical textures.

Floating into the title track “Astrophilia”, a cryptic-sounding radio static is broken by distant voices. Robotic banter is playfully exchanged between what seems to be cosmic creatures from two different planets. The Lo-fi theme continues to embrace the dialogue gingerly as the two dance in a pensive call-and-response. Earthly drum work captures the time and gives body to the distance between them as ambient tones break it apart. The constant duality of these two tracks deeply expresses the nature of space, untethering the child within to walk amongst the ever expanding distance in between the stars.

This is Universe of Sounds’ third release on the New York based label, The Rust, in just under a year. The Rust works with producers such as Malakai, Face Plant, 5AM, Smigonaut, and many others bringing high fidelity music to the ever-evolving underground bass music industry. Captivating the curiosity of us all, Universe of Sounds turns inward to discover a universal obsession for the unknown. " - Erin Hill, Bass Feeds The Soul
